A true crime podcast that gives a fuck. Research-heavy, victim-centered, and focused on the cases that got ignored.

After months of promises, missed deadlines, disappearing documents, and a release that somehow exposed victims while still leaving major questions about what DOJ withheld, journalist and attorney Katie Phang sued Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche over the Epstein files. In this episode, I get into Pam Bondi’s disastrous rollout, what the Epstein Files Transparency Act actually required, the records and redactions at the center of Phang’s lawsuit, and why DOJ is still arguing that it has already done enough. For bonus content, ad-free and early episodes, archived episodes, a private Discord community, and more, subscribe to @fthatpod on Patreon or hereDon't forget to check out the website!www.fthatpod.comIf you liked what you heard today, give the podcast a like, review, and subscribe.Follow F**k That on TikTok@fthatpodInstagram @fthat_podYouTube Channel: @fthatpodThank you to this week's sources:PHANG v. Re-release and audio remaster of episode 9 that originally aired 9/28/2022.Hi! I changed hosting platforms and several of my older episodes were deleted so I will be working through audio remastering and re releasing them over the next few months. This week we talk about the murders of the DeFeo family. Was this caused by a demon? Or was this done by the eldest child, Ronald DeFeo Jr.? Once George and Kathy Lutz moved into the house after the murders, they fled leaving everything behind 28 days later. Their story inspired what we know today as the Amityville Horror. If you liked what you heard today, give the podcast a like, review, and subscribe. Reasa Selph brought her son to the ER with the flu. They gave him fluids and sent him home. Two weeks later, his skin turned yellow, his body was failing, and the infection traced straight back to the IV they placed that day. The same hospital dismissed him... twice. By Christmas morning, he was being rushed to another facility, fighting for his life with sepsis. What came next wasn’t just a medical crisis - it was a cover-up, a lawsuit, and a mother’s refusal to stay quiet about the system that almost killed her child.Reasa's story covers failures in patient safety and the lack of accountability in modern healthcare. For bonus content, ad-free and early episodes, archived episodes, a private Discord community, and more, subscribe to @fthatpod on Patreon or hereDon't forget to check out the website!www.fthatpod.comIf you liked what you heard today, give the podcast a like, review, and subscribe.Follow F**k That on TikTok@fthatpodInstagram @fthat_podYouTube Channel: @fthatpodSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/f-k-that/exclusive-contentAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
In 1969, Senator Ted Kennedy drove off a bridge on Chappaquiddick Island, leaving 28-year-old Mary Jo Kopechne trapped in a submerged car. He passed several houses, swam across the channel, and waited ten hours before telling anyone. By the time help showed up, she was gone, and the spin was already in motion. What followed wasn’t justice. It was damage control. For bonus content, ad-free and early episodes, archived episodes, a private Discord community, and more, subscribe to @fthatpod on Patreon!Don't forget to check out the website!www.fthatpod.comIf you liked what you heard today, give the podcast a like, review, and subscribe.Follow F**k That on TikTok@fthatpodInstagram @fthat_podYouTube Channel: @fthatpodThank you to this week's sources:Chancellor, J. This week I spoke with retired Special Agent in Charge, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Inspector General, Criminal Investigation division, Bruce Sackman. Bruce led the investigation into Dr. Death (the subject of last week's episode), ultimately bringing Michael Swango to justice. Bruce is responsible for developing the Red Flag Protocol, which hospitals use today to identify potential clinicians who kill or harm patients. Bruce is truly a pioneer in investigating medical serial killers, and has worked closely with renowned individiuals in the field, such as Dr. Michael Baden. Dr. Michael Swango, also known as Dr. Death, had his residency rescinded after his internship at Ohio State due to patients dying under his care while he was working in an ambulance, and due to his falsification of internship documents. His faculty and peers expressed their concerns, and yet, nobody alerted police or other medical institutions. After working as an EMT for an Illinois ambulance service, several of his colleagues fell ill after consuming food he brought in, or coffee he prepared. Dr. Death was arrested for arsenic poisoning and served five years, but he was still able to work as a resident in New York and Zimbabwe following these incidences. After his rotation at the VA in New York, Special Agent Bruce Sackman set his sights on Swango, leading to his capture. Next week, be sure to listen to my interview with retired Special Agent in Charge, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Inspector General, Criminal Investigation division, Bruce Sackman regarding Dr. Death, as well as several other medical serial killers he has investigated and brought to justice. Bruce is truly a pioneer in investigating medical serial killers, and the investigation and arrest of Michael Swango is just one of many cases Bruce has handled. In January of 1959, a group of nine experienced hikers began their expedition across the Northern Ural Mountains in The Soviet Union. Their goal was to reach Otorten Mountain, a place whose name ominously translates to "don't go there." After harsh weather conditions forced the group to establish camp on the open mountain slope, they were never heard from again. Eventually, the bodies of the nine hikers were discovered under strange circumstances. The Long Island Serial Murders began in 1993 with the murder of Rita Tangredi, followed by the murders of Sandra Castilla, and Colleen McNamee in 1993 and 1994. Jane Doe #7 was discovered in 1996, followed by Jane Doe #3 (Peaches), in 1997. Two torsos were found in 2000, and 2003 - and after that, it all went silent... until the disappearance of Shannan Gilbert in 2010.While Shannan’s death remains a mystery, her legacy goes beyond her fate. Shannan’s disappearance reignited public interest in the unsolved Long Island Serial Murder cases, and set in motion a chain of events that led to the discovery of additional victims, including the four women who became known as The Gilgo Four - Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, Maureen Brainard-Barnes, and Amber Costello. After filing appeals that were ultimately denied throughout 2010, a motion was filed in 2020 on Chad's behalf requesting a video hearing to purge the bench warrant, and ultimately, close the case in Venango County Pennsylvania. After Nance, the horse queen, fails to appear at the scheduled court date, Pennsylvania dismisses the custody issue on May 21st, 2021. They did NOT resolve the issue of "contempt." In 2022, Chad fought the federal charges, offering extradition in return for air ambulance transport and a speedy trial, or requested the U.S. to dismiss the indictment. Marriage is a challenge, and it gets even more complicated when two people share a child. Custody battles often get ruthless, taking years to finally settle. What if one of the parents lives out of the country? In this case, it can mean kidnapping – and when you cross state borders and beyond… what happens then? Even if a parent has custody, this doesn’t necessarily mean they will not become a fugitive wanted across the globe. Have you checked out the new, super blank website? This week I delve into the controversial and extreme haunted attraction known as McKamey Manor, an extreme haunted house attraction that has sparked intense debate and controversy. Located in Summertown, Tennessee, McKamey Manor is not your typical haunted house attraction. It bills itself as an extreme haunt experience that challenges its participants physically and mentally. The experience is not for the faint of heart; it involves extreme simulations of torture, confinement, and other traumas. What I’m trying to say is, you have to have at least one loose screw to want to participate. Participants must sign a 40-page waiver, undergo a background check, and pass a physical and mental exam before being allowed to take the tour. Once inside, participants are subjected to a grueling, hours-long experience that includes simulated drowning, extreme temperatures, and physical and psychological torture. The attraction has garnered significant criticism, with some describing it as a form of torture and exploitation. The owner, Russ McKamey, has defended the experience as a form of "survival horror" that pushes participants to their limits, claiming that no one has completed the experience to this day. However, many former participants have spoken out against the attraction, describing their experiences as traumatic and violating. Some have accused McKamey of manipulating and gaslighting participants and have criticized the attraction's lack of transparency and oversight. Exploring the complex issues surrounding McKamey Manor, including the ethics of extreme haunt experiences, the role of consent, and the legal and regulatory challenges posed by extreme attractions- this episode will force you to ask yourself, “how far is too far?” PLEASE CONSIDER SIGNING THIS PETITION - shut down McKamey Manorwww.change.org/p/tennessee-state-senate-shut-down-mckamey-manorHave you checked out the new, super blank website? This week, I explore the life of Elizabeth Bathory, the infamous Hungarian countess who is widely considered to be history's most notorious female serial killer. The legend surrounding Elizabeth, aka Countess Dracula, or The Blood Countess, remains that she was a bloodthirsty killer who tortured and murdered hundreds of young girls (mainly peasants), bathing in their blood in the belief that it would keep her young and beautiful. While it is impossible to know the exact number of The Blood Countess' victims, it is estimated that she may have been responsible for the deaths of up to 650 girls. Elizabeth Bathory remains one of the most intriguing and terrifying figures in history, a woman whose legend has endured for centuries. While the exact truth of her crimes may never be known, the impact she had on history is undeniable. When we get divorced, it is overwhelming as hell. Imagine if you had to go through all of that AND get divorced in religious court as well. Imagine if your civil divorce didn’t really matter if your religious divorce wasn’t valid. That is a reality for a lot of women in the Orthodox Jewish Community when their husbands refuse to grant them a get, the religious document needed for divorce according to Jewish Religious Law. Enter Rabbi Mendel Epstein, aka “The Prodfather.” Leader of the New York Divorce Coercion Gang – a group of rabbis and other Jewish men that kidnapped, assaulted and tortured men that refused to give their wives a get using cattle prods, acid, and other scary objects that nobody, including angry Rabbis, should be wielding. This week we discuss another case that allegedly has some spooky elements, since it’s Halloween until at least October 31st. Brookfield, Connecticut is a quaint, picturesque New England town. But, Brookfield has a sinister history… and by sinister I mean, it unfortunately made history for being the first place in the United States to attempt to use possession by Satan himself as a defense. Now known as The Devil Made Me Do It case, and the inspiration behind The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (it was not a good film), we dive into the events leading up to February 16th, 1981, when Arne Johnson brutally murdered his landlord, Alan Bono.Spoiler alert: The Warrens are involved, again. If you liked what you heard today, give the podcast a like, review, and subscribe.
