Ep. 127 The Extinct Eastern Elk Subspecies with Steven Dobey of Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation
Podcast: The Prairie Farm PodcastPublished On: Fri Feb 16 2024
Description: A tragic wildlife loss that has taken place in the last 160ish years is the extinction of the eastern elk subspecies. These majestic cervids were the stunning feature of the prairies east of the Mississippi river, but they were unfortunately erased from these ecosystems by overhunting and habitat loss during the settlement of that part of the country. Nicolas and Kent sat down with Steven Dobey of RMEF to discuss this interesting tragedy. Join RMEF hokseynativeseeds.com theprairiefarm.com
