Rory Sutherland is one of the world’s most fascinating thinkers in advertising and behavioral science. Today’s guest is ex-CIA officer and founder of EveryDaySpy, Andrew Bustamante. We went deep on the truth about government, money, perception, persuasion, and what real success actually looks like. He revealed how spy training connects to everyday life, why the CIA isn’t what conspiracy theories claim, and how the systems around us are designed to keep us predictable. Today’s guest is Ash Dykes. When most people think of adventure, they picture travel, fun, maybe a little challenge. For Ash Dykes, it’s life or death. From pulling a 120kg trailer through the Gobi Desert with no backup, to hallucinating his way to survival on the brink of heatstroke, to being held at gunpoint and crossing crocodile-infested rivers. Ash has lived through it all. But this isn’t just about danger. It’s about why someone would willingly step into the unknown, where death is a real option, and what that teaches you about life, fear, and resilience. Ash shares how he went from a small coastal town in North Wales to setting world records in some of the most extreme places on Earth, and the mental discipline it takes to keep moving when everything in your body is screaming to stop. Real talk… Jim Fortin changed my life as a young 17 year old. It is very full circle being able to sit down at his house for over 2 hours and have him on the show. We unpack subconscious programming, the stories we tell ourselves, habits that shape our entire reality, and how to finally step into the identity of the person you want to become. For Michael's sake, drop your #stepcheck in the comments! Today’s guest is Michael Smoak and this conversation was one like no other he has ever been on. This year has been tough for Michael. Losing his father to sickness at the beginning of the year created a newfound drive to make the most out of life. While this conversation surfaced his story and loss of father, it was probably the most value packed episode I have done all year. In fact I would go to say that it was my favourite episode I’ve recorded this year. Michael opens up about recording final conversations with his father, learning to laugh through chaos, and why surrendering to truth and God reframed everything. Since then, his business has hit six figures a month, his energy has shifted, and he’s finally living the life he used to just talk about. In this raw and honest episode, we unpack what it really takes to change, why so many men stay stuck in the same cycles, and the brutal self-talk that finally pushed him to break free. This one hit different. Zack Telander is a musician, father, and seasoned weightlifter, he’s also a man who calls out the fluff on social media. Especially in a world that rewards curated personas over real connection. In this episode, we dove deep into the dark side of content, the addiction to documenting everything, the manipulation of the algorithm, and the pressure to always perform. Welcome to episode 69 of The Pocket with Chris Griffin! Our guest today is Salim Najjar. What looked like rock bottom losing his business, dislocating his shoulder, going broke, turned out to be the moment Salim found everything. In today’s episode, Salim opens up about the unseen forces running our lives: our nervous system, our heart rate variability (HRV), and the emotional scars we don’t even realise we’re carrying. He breaks down why most of us stay stuck, how to actually move trauma out of the body, and why real health has nothing to do with how fit you look and everything to do with how free you feel inside. Welcome to episode 61 of The Pocket with Chris Griffin. Today I sit down with Hunter McIntyre—one of the greatest endurance & hybrid athletes of our time, a three-time HYROX world champion, and an all-around larger-than-life character. Hunter is known for his insane fitness, unmatched competitiveness, and his jock-like persona online. But behind the records and the bravado is a wild story of rebellion, struggle, and transformation. He opens up about his troubled teenage years—getting into trouble, bouncing in and out of rehab centers, and being prescribed nearly every medication under the sun. It was a chaotic time that could have easily sent him down the wrong path permanently. We talk about the turning point—when everything changed and how he took control of his life, channeling that restless energy into becoming one of the most dominant endurance athletes in the world. He shares the lessons he learned along the way, from pushing physical and mental limits to understanding what truly matters in life. This was one of my favourite conversations to date. Welcome to episode 60 of The Pocket with Chris Griffin. Today I sit down with Dominique Elissa—a successful model, podcast host, and someone who’s been through some serious highs and lows. Dom has worked with some of the biggest brands in the world, but her journey hasn’t been all glitz and glamour. She opens up about struggling with insomnia, anxiety, and disordered eating during her early modelling days, the toll it took on her, and how she found a way to turn her life around. We also dive into something incredibly personal—her recent engagement and rushed wedding. When we recorded this episode just two weeks ago, she had only just said "yes" to the love of her life. But soon after, she had to fast-track her wedding due to her mother’s battle with cancer. She was adamant that her mum had to be there, so they made it happen—right in the hospital. An emotional rollercoaster, to say the least. Through it all, gratitude has been the anchor that’s kept Dominique grounded. She shares how practicing gratitude helped her navigate both rock-bottom moments and incredible highs, and why it’s such a crucial part of her life today. Welcome to episode 58 of The Pocket with Chris Griffin. Today I sit down with 360, one of Australia’s biggest rappers. If you were into Aussie hip-hop in the early 2010s, you definitely knew his name. His album Falling & Flying blew up, and for a while, he was at the top of the game. But behind the success, things were falling apart. 360 has spoken before about his addiction to codeine, which got so bad he was taking up to 90 pills a day. It nearly killed him. In this chat, we go deep—not just into his rise and fall, but into the guilt and shame he still carries. His parents think they failed him, but he insists they did nothing wrong. At one point, he completely broke down, sharing just how heavy it all still feels. This is one of the rawest episodes I’ve ever recorded. It’s about addiction, family, regret, the rise and fall of one’s career, the impact fame has on you, social media challenges and so, so, so, much more. Enjoy! Welcome to episode 57 of The Pocket with Chris Griffin! In this episode, I sit down with my good mate Brad McDonnell, co-founder of Manna Vitality, to dive deep into life’s biggest questions. What does it truly mean to be here? Why do we exist? We unpack different ideologies, perspectives, and personal experiences around these questions—this one goes deep. One of the things that makes Brad unique is how he balances business and spirituality—two things that most people struggle to integrate. Usually, it’s one or the other, but Brad has managed to build a thriving business while staying grounded in his spiritual practices. We get into how he found that balance, the challenges along the way, and what keeps him aligned in both areas. This conversation was raw, deep, and eye-opening. Whether you're someone chasing success, looking for more meaning in life, or just curious about different ways of thinking, this episode will leave you questioning everything (in the best way possible). Welcome to episode 54 of The Pocket with Chris Griffin! Noah Hunter Dorsey steps into the podcast world for the first time, and he’s not holding back. This is one of those stories that makes you rethink what’s possible. Noah isn’t just a guy with multiple 7-figure businesses—he’s someone who’s lived a lot of life. Before the success, before the crazy marketing wins, he hit rock bottom. No money. No direction, in a city he didn’t like, wondering what the hell was next. In a last-ditch effort to figure himself out, he packed a bag and took off on a two-month, soul-searching journey to India. No business plans. No clear path. Just a deep dive into self-discovery. That trip changed everything. When he got back to Melbourne, he went all in on building his own businesses. Hustling, failing, learning—until one day, the universe decided to throw him a lifeline in the wildest way possible. Out of nowhere, his phone rings. On the other end? Bianca Censori. Kanye West’s wife. And she’s got a proposition: handle the marketing for Yeezy. Noah takes it on and completely flips the script. He scales sales from $40K a day to a jaw-dropping $19 million in a single day—thanks to a perfectly executed Super Bowl ad. From sleeping on the floor to pulling in numbers most people can’t even dream of. This was a good one! I can’t wait for you to tune in. Welcome to episode 50 of The Pocket with Chris Griffin, a little milestone! I sit down with 4-time world champion kite surfer James Carew today. This guy is an absolute beast on the water and a legend in the sport, but there’s way more to him than just catching waves. Instead, he came back stronger than ever, winning the world championship straight after. It’s a story of grit, resilience, and straight-up determination. We also dig into the people behind his success, especially his partner, who has been his rock through it all. James talks about how she’s been by his side during the highs and lows, helping him stay grounded and focused. And if you think his drive to win is just about personal glory, think again—so much of what James does is for his dad, who’s been a massive inspiration in his journey. With all that said however, James highlights how much of a solo journey it still is and how important it is to be comfortable in the solitude. This was a good one fam - enjoy!! Welcome to episode 42 of The Pocket with Chris Griffin! This one is a deeply personal and special one. My guest is Sam Hope—Director of the Forbes Club, an incredible young entrepreneur at just 22, and more importantly, my best friend. Sam and I have been through everything together, from extreme highs to crushing lows. At one point, we were sharing a mattress on the floor of a studio apartment because our bed got mouldy. We merged our bank accounts just to scrape together enough for groceries and keep a roof over our heads. Those tough times shaped us, not just as individuals but also as a team. Now, we look back on those moments with pride, knowing they were the foundation for everything we’ve built since. They’re also just amazing memories to look back on. They are comparison points. Beyond the rawness of our shared story, we also dive into what makes Sam so extraordinary: his unparalleled networking skills. Sam has this rare ability to make people genuinely invested in him and his vision. He doesn’t just walk into a room—he owns it, leaving a lasting impression that gets him into spaces where opportunities flourish. In this episode, he breaks down how he does it and shares actionable insights on how you, too, can become a networking powerhouse. If you’ve ever wondered how to connect with people in a way that’s authentic and impactful, or if you’re facing challenges and need some inspiration to keep going, this conversation is for you. Sam’s wisdom, grit, and expertise will leave you motivated to level up your life, whether you’re an entrepreneur or just trying to figure things out. Welcome to episode 39 of The Pocket with Chris Griffin! Our guest today is Oliver Cronin. Oliver is one of my best friends. We barely left each other during lockdown because we lived in the buildings next to each other. I had a little gym set up in my office. Oliver would come over every day on my lunch break to train. While we would train he would play the new music he created that morning. This was before he gained millions of followers online. Oliver got signed to a major record label when he was 17 years old which led him to drop out of school to become a Rapper. He thought he made it at that moment but was quickly humbled by many challenges he had to face in those few years after. Now 22 years old he has blown up on social media and is the most well known up and coming artist in the whole country and has been travelling around the world performing and creating music with some of the biggest names in the industry. Welcome to episode 37 of The Pocket with Chris Griffin! I’m joined by independent author Paul Millerd, best known for his best-selling book The Pathless Path and his latest release Good Work. Paul’s story is one of courage, transformation, and redefining what it means to live a successful life. After achieving everything he thought represented success, Paul realized it wasn’t truly fulfilling. In a bold move, he decided to “blow up” his conventional life and pursue writing—a choice that allowed him to find his version of "good work." During our conversation, Paul and I dive deep into his journey and unpack lessons about breaking free from societal expectations to follow a path that truly serves your soul. Whether you're looking for inspiration or practical advice, this episode will leave you questioning what success really means and how to find your own "good work." What you should expect to hear in this episode is Paul defining what Good Work is, how the first step to living the life you want to live is to blow up your current one, how having a season of solitude is important, how there is three different forms of marriages in your life, self gaslighting and much much more. This was a great episode and all I ask is that if you enjoy this episode with a friend you think it will help. Welcome to episode 36 of The Pocket with Chris Griffin! My guest today is Noah Rolette, one of the founders of Raw Dawg Run Club, a group that has taken the running world by storm. What began as a small, casual run among friends has quickly become one of the largest and most vibrant run clubs globally, known for its lively atmosphere and unique approach to fitness. In this episode, Noah opens up about the journey he and his best friends went through—from sharing a cramped room at his parents’ house, moving into a small, moldy flat, to suddenly blowing up on social media. In just over a year, they've transformed their lives, and the story of how they built Raw Dawg into a global movement is absolutely insane! Raw Dawg Run Club's philosophy of “raw-dogging life” resonates with many people who are tired of traditional gym culture. The name itself may seem provocative, but Noah explains that it represents a mindset of tackling life head-on without over-preparation. Their viral content on Instagram helped the club gain massive traction, resulting in thousands of people showing up to run at their club. Welcome to episode 35 of The Pocket with Chris Griffin! We dive into the incredible story of Cru Mahoney today, a man whose extreme approach to life has made him stand out in today’s world. Cru has never touched alcohol, caffeine, drugs, or even supplements in his life, and he’s proud of it. In fact, a video of him discussing his "lame" lifestyle choices went viral, racking up 50 million views and turning him into a social media sensation. What’s more, Cru has gone for a run every day for the last 2300 days—yes, every single day. He shares what motivates him to maintain such intense discipline, why he chooses to live outside the norm, and how this approach has shaped his success and happiness. This is an inspiring conversation with someone who’s truly committed to living life on his own terms, no shortcuts, no distractions, and definitely no excuses. I just absolutely love speaking to people that are unique. People that are actually doing things for them, living on their own terms and coming up with their own conclusions. It’s so refreshing. Welcome to episode 30 of The Pocket with Chris Griffin! I sit down with Timothy Smith today, the familiar face from Married at First Sight (MAFS), who shares a gripping and emotional journey that goes far beyond reality TV. Tim opens up about a time in his life when he was involved in illegal activities, including flying a helicopter without a license and trafficking weed from Canada into the U.S. His risky decisions caught up with him, leading to his arrest and time behind bars. But the challenges didn’t stop there. While in jail, Tim faced heartbreaking losses—his mother passed away, and soon after, his brother took his own life. Despite these devastating experiences, Timothy found a way to turn his life around. Appearing on Married at First Sight was one of those things that helped change the trajectory of his life. Welcome to episode 29 of The Pocket with Chris Griffin! Today I’m joined by two of my really good friends, Jordan and Zac Stenmark, who are not just the largest twin male models in the world but also remarkable individuals with an inspiring story. We dive into their sporty upbringing and the challenges they faced growing up with dyslexia. Jordan and Zac candidly share their experiences of being bullied at school for not being able to read, making school life a constant struggle. Jordan referred to these times in the episode as “terror”. Despite these difficulties, they turned their challenges into the drive that led them to where they are today. I’ve known Jordan and Zac for years, and we used to catch up every morning over coffee at our favourite cafe in Bondi, The Depot. Our conversations often drifted into deep, interesting topics, and this episode felt like a continuation of those daily chats. I loved this one fam and I hope you do too! Welcome to episode 28 of The Pocket with Chris Griffin! Wow, wow, wow… This episode is probably my favourite to date. I sit down with CJ Bloomfield, a man whose life story sounds like something straight out of a movie. CJ's journey is nothing short of extraordinary, going from a life immersed in crime and gang culture to being sentenced to 28 years in prison. However, fate had other plans for him—he served just 2 years after his two biggest charges were dropped. But what CJ did with those 2 years is what makes his story truly remarkable. While in solitary confinement, CJ began honing his acting skills, using the graffiti on his cell wall as an imaginary camera. Little did he know that this practice would set him on a path that would change his life forever. Two years after leaving prison, CJ landed a role in a movie alongside Chris Hemsworth, and his life took a complete 180. Now, he's on track to becoming a major A-list celebrity with some massive projects in the works. We dive deep into his incredible transformation, discussing the lessons CJ learned along the way, the healing journey he's undertaken, and what it takes to turn your life around in the most profound way possible. I could write a full book recapping this episode but I will leave it there - you will just have to tune in! I’m excited to hear your thoughts. Kyle was left at a stop sign at just 2 years old and found by a truck driver… I know that may be hard to believe but it happened. He also was in a police chase with his mum and step dad when he was 5 years old, just moments before he watched his parents go to jail, resulting in young Kyle to go back into foster care. Kyle's early years were spent navigating the foster care system. By the age of 11, he decided to take control of his fate and ran away from home. Welcome to episode 25 of The Pocket with Chris Griffin! We're sitting down with Patrick Murtagh today, a guy whose journey is nothing short of extraordinary. I first met Patty playing AFL with the GC Suns here in Australia. I was in the academy when he got drafted. Things took a turn when he got dropped from the team a few years later, but he didn't let that stop him. He kept grinding and eventually got drafted into the NFL. But, as life would have it, just before he could sign his NFL contract, an injury sent him back home. Most people would have thrown in the towel, but not Patty. He worked even harder, pushed through the rehab, and got picked up by the Jaguars. What's truly inspiring about Patty is his dedication to his family. He's doing all of this to support his mum and sister, especially after losing his father to cancer. This episode dives deep into Patty's highs and lows, his relentless spirit, and the love that keeps him going. This story was wild… An eye opener for sure. Enjoy! Welcome to episode 24 of The Pocket with Chris Griffin! Today we have a super special guest! We’re joined by the incredible Tobi Pearce. A little back story: Tobi was on my dream list of all the big guests I wanted on The Pocket before I even started the show. I didn’t expect to have him on this early but here we are! Tobi is a business powerhouse here in Australia. He founded Sweat, a fitness empire, and sold it for a whopping $300 million. Now, he’s all about investing in businesses and mentoring top-level business owners. We sat down for over two hours, diving deep into his journey. Tobi shared insights on building a successful business, making smart investments, and the ups and downs of his career. His knowledge and experience shine through, and I promise you'll hear things you've never heard before. Welcome to episode 23 of The Pocket with Chris Griffin! In this episode, I’m sitting down with the ultimate power couple, Meg and Will Martin. Their story is a blend of love, resilience, and incredible achievements that you won't want to miss. I was blown away by these. In fact, I resonated so much with their story and phase of life they’re in right now. Will became a millionaire at just 24 years old, working alongside his brother. However, life took a dramatic turn when he had a major falling out with his family. Choosing to give up everything, Will started from scratch, navigating the challenges of rebuilding his life. Adding to the complexity, his family didn't like Meg and blamed her for the fallout. Despite the family drama, Meg and Will stood by each other, proving that their bond is unbreakable. Their journey is a testament to their strength and love. On a different note, Meg and Will recently clinched the title of best couple in the world at the Hyrox fitness competition. If you haven't heard of Hyrox, it's a hugely popular fitness competition that tests both physical and mental endurance. Their win showcases their dedication and teamwork in the fitness world. Welcome to episode 20 of The Pocket with Chris Griffin! I sit down with a good friend and absolute legend Diogo Giglio, one of the most positive and inspiring individuals I've ever met. Diogo's energy is simply infectious, and his story will leave you feeling uplifted and motivated, that’s a promise. Diogo's journey is nothing short of extraordinary. At just 13 years old, he was kicked out of his home in Brazil because he refused to follow the strict religious beliefs of his family. Alone and determined, he moved from country to country, eventually immigrating to Australia, a country he'd never been to, and is building an incredible life for himself. Today, Diogo runs a highly successful construction and development company called GCD, and he shares his life with his loving partner, Alisha. We delve deep into Diogo's story, exploring the challenges he faced and the triumphs he achieved along the way. Diogo opens up about his unique perspective on religion, discussing the difference between his strong connection to God yet his strong dislike to religion. He believes that religion was created to divide people and envisions a future where it no longer exists. Our conversation on this topic is thought-provoking and insightful. Throughout the episode, we also touch on various topics we're passionate about, from personal growth to the power of positivity. Diogo's resilience and outlook on life are truly inspiring, and I'm sure his story will be eye opening to anyone who listens. Welcome back to another episode of The Pocket with Chris Griffin! This episode is truly special. Today, I'm chatting with the amazing Eugene Koning, a good friend, absolute legend and a breathwork facilitator at Saint Haven (one of my favourite places on earth). Eugene’s journey is one of the most inspiring I've ever heard. He moved from New Zealand to Holland to chase his rugby dreams but ended up getting caught in a whirlwind of partying and drugs. Eugene was such a people pleaser, always doing things just to fit in, living a lie. One night, everything changed for Eugene. He found himself at a breaking point, which led him to embark on a profound journey of self-discovery and healing through breathwork. Eugene's story is a testament to the power of resilience and transformation. Now, he dedicates his life to helping high achievers unlock their full potential through the incredible practice of breathwork. In this episode, we dive deep into: Eugene’s early days and his move to Holland for rugby The highs and lows of his party lifestyle The pivotal moment that sparked his journey into breathwork His incredible transformation and healing process How he now helps others as a breathwork facilitator at Saint Haven This conversation is packed with raw honesty and deep insights. Eugene's energy is infectious, and I have to say, this is one of my favorite episodes ever. I didn’t want it to end! Don’t miss out on this powerful and inspiring story. Welcome to Episode 10 of The Pocket with Chris Griffin! This week, we were thrilled to have Matthew Banks, the visionary founder of my favourite and also Australia's largest men's jewellery brand, Merchants of the Sun. In this conversation, Matty takes us behind the scenes of Merchants of the Sun, sharing the brand's inception story, the challenges faced, and the pivotal moments that defined its path. One of the most captivating stories Matty shared was about a bold decision made at the peak of the brand's success. Despite Merchants of the Sun doing an astounding $150,000 a month, Matty chose to close the store during the busiest times of the year. This wasn't a step back but a strategic pause to refocus and reimagine the brand's vision, setting a precedent in the industry about the importance of alignment with core values over immediate gains. We also touched on the hard times, the doubts, and the resilience it takes to build a brand that stands out for its commitment to quality and sustainability. Matty's journey with Merchants of the Sun is not just a business success story; it's a testament to following one's passion and the courage to redefine success on one's own terms. As a personal fan of their jewellery, I can't express enough how much I love Merchants of the Sun's creations. I wear their pieces every day, and their commitment to craftsmanship and sustainability is something I deeply respect and recommend to everyone.
