He currently serves as the Mental Skills Coordinator for the Arizona Diamondbacks, overseeing mental performance services for players and staff across all levels of the organization. Zach’s work centers on helping individuals and teams build the awareness, focus, and systems required to perform consistently under pressure—while also increasing fulfillment and enjoyment in sport and life. Prior to professional baseball, he worked as a Mental Conditioning Coach at IMG Academy, supporting elite athletes in baseball, basketball, tennis, and track & field, including Olympic and MLB performers. A former college baseball pitcher, Zach was part of Linfield College’s 2013 National Championship team. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Linfield College and a Master’s degree in Kinesiology and Applied Sport Psychology from Cal State Fullerton, where he studied under legendary sport psychologist Dr. Ken Ravizza. Zach also writes the Winning With Words newsletter and hosts The Threshold Lab, where he explores the principles of attention, perspective, and sustainable excellence through storytelling and practical application.
