Description: For days Forsyth's men laid in their shallow holes trying not to get shot, but the doctor was hit badly, Beecher was dying, and qa half dozen others were either dead of wounded, including Forsyth, who was still commanding his men. They had sent scouts but it was 100 miles to the nearest post and the chances the scouts would make it through the Indians was minimal. The rations were gone, and the only option after 4 days was rotting horse meat. Death was staring them in the face. This is their story.
