The order is aimed at increasing federal oversight of mail-ballot distribution ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.  Recent threats and attacks involving government attorneys in Fresno have prompted a debate over workplace security. City Attorney Andrew Janz wants qualified attorneys with concealed-carry permits to be allowed to carry firearms inside municipal buildings, while opponents argue that adding weapons to government workplaces could increase risks rather than improve safety.
