Gina Gardiner & Friends with Sharon-Ann Phillips on Heartbreak To Hope
Podcast:Brushwood Media Network Published On: Mon Jul 27 2026 Description: Sharon-Ann Phillips is the author of Why Me? My Fight for Life from Heartbreak to Hope and the founder of Heartbreak to Hope CIC, a Community Interest Company focused on raising awareness, sharing lived experience, and supporting others through serious illness and life’s most challenging moments. Over 10 years ago, Sharon-Ann was given just six months to live. A three-time cancer survivor, her journey has been deeply shaped by misdiagnosis, an experience that almost cost her life. That turning point not only changed her path but became the driving force behind her work today: raising awareness, especially around misdiagnosis and helping to ensure that patient voices are heard, understood, and taken seriously. Her story is not just one of survival, but of purpose. Through her writing and speaking, Sharon-Ann creates space for honest conversations about misdiagnosis, treatment, and the emotional reality of living through serious illness. She has shared her experiences in healthcare, community, and educational settings, including speaking as part of nurse training programs at St George’s Hospital. Sharon-Ann has also contributed to patient insight panels with organizations such as Pfizer and GSK, using her lived experience to support better understanding and more patient-centered care. Through Heartbreak to Hope CIC, she is building a platform focused on awareness, connection, and support, with plans for workshops and one-to-one sessions to help others navigate their own journeys. Her story has been featured in The Voice, the Croydon Advertiser, CHAT Magazine, and Woman’s Realm, as well as on BBC Radio London, BBC Radio 4, Premier Christian Radio, and UCB. At the heart of everything she does is a simple belief: real stories, real voices, and real support have the power to change lives.
