The thoroughly documented murder of Alex Pretti by ICE/Border Patrol/DHS agents touched a new nerve when the administration chose to lie, despite visual evidence, and to blame the presence of his un-brandished, licensed firearm as justification for his death. Video and eye witness accounts are in direct opposition to the narrative pushed by the department that killed a man in broad daylight. Even the NRA issued a statement challenging that take, and the federal workers union that Alex was a member of (AFGE) demand accountability and consequences. Meanwhile, speeches at the World Economic Forum made it abundantly clear that America's new bully isolationist road will be a lonely, vulnerable, costly, and likely violent one.
