Description: College football is finally back, and Auburn football enters the 2026 season with a completely different feel under new head coach Alex Golesh. The question now is whether the organization, accountability and process Auburn has shown throughout the offseason will translate when the Tigers finally take the field against Baylor. Auburn has had talent before. That has not always been the problem. The bigger issue has been turning that talent into consistent execution on Saturdays. Too many times over the last several seasons, Auburn has been in position to make the play that could change or win a football game and simply failed to make it. Golesh now gets his first opportunity to show that his approach can change that. A huge part of that transition is Byrum Brown. The veteran quarterback followed Golesh from USF to Auburn and gives the Tigers something extremely valuable in year one of a new system: familiarity. Brown already understands the offense, expectations and process. That could eliminate some of the normal growing pains associated with a first year head coach and a new offensive system.
